Kindiki departed this morning to represent Kenya at the event, marking his second international trip since taking office. Kenya and Mozambique have longstanding historical and cultural ties, including a shared Swahili-speaking population in both nations. The two countries are eager to strengthen economic cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, agribusiness, minerals, and tourism.
Daniel Chapo, 48, secured 65% of the vote in an election that opposition leaders, electoral observers, and the public widely claimed was manipulated. The results sparked widespread protests, some peaceful, others violent, resulting in chaos, including deaths and property damage.
