Gathoni Wamuchomba has expressed deep sorrow over the current political situation, stating she is a saddened daughter and mother of the Mountain. Reflecting on the pain felt by many MPs, Wamuchomba highlighted the disbelief among those who fought tirelessly to ensure the election of President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
She emphasized that few people truly understand the struggles Gachagua endured, including false accusations and public humiliation, which only Pastor Dorcas can fully explain.
In a heartfelt appeal to President Ruto, Wamuchomba said, “Mr. President, while I may not be qualified to advise you, I speak on behalf of the people of Kiambu, who voted and prayed for your victory.”
She reminded the President of the emotional moments shared during the campaign, including when he broke down in PCEA Church, reflecting on the challenges faced while seeking power. Wamuchomba expressed disbelief that just two years later, there are now plots to impeach the Deputy President, saying, “We have forgotten the pain we went through, and now we are chest-thumping.”
She cautioned the President about the consequences of betrayal, particularly given the deep trust and love the Mt. Kenya community has for him. Wamuchomba noted that the very individuals who once intimidated and plotted against them during the previous regime are now behind the impeachment plans.
Appealing directly to President Ruto, she urged him to remember the overwhelming support from Kiambu County, which delivered 600,006 votes, representing 74 percent of the vote.
Turning to the Deputy President, Wamuchomba assured him that she and others in Parliament are aware of the efforts being made to undermine him. She revealed that a group of MPs, including those who recently joined the government, are preparing to introduce the impeachment motion in Parliament next week.
