In Olbutyo, Bomet County, detectives are probing an incident where a 25-year-old man was caught engaging in an indecent act with a cow. The man was apprehended after being discovered by Vincent Munai, a resident of Kapsayalel village, who reported the matter to the authorities.

According to the police, Munai found the suspect at around 3:00 a.m. with his Friesian cow in the shed and immediately alerted fellow villagers. Over 40 locals gathered at the scene, leading to the suspect being subjected to mob justice, resulting in visible injuries to his head and left leg.

The injured man was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment before being transferred to police custody. He is expected to appear in court as investigations continue. Meanwhile, the cow was examined by a veterinary officer for treatment.

Bestiality, often referred to as an unnatural act, is considered a serious offence under Kenyan law. Section 162 (b) of the Penal Code stipulates that anyone convicted of engaging in sexual acts with an animal can face up to 14 years in prison. Additionally, Section 163 outlines a 7-year prison term for those attempting such crimes.
