Political activist Morara Kebaso has provided an explanation for why he swiftly left the scene of an accident involving his vehicle in Embu on Sunday night.
In a statement, it was revealed that Morara departed the scene due to concerns for his personal safety.
He explained that he faces numerous threats and is unable to determine who specifically might be targeting him.
“After the accident, I left the scene quickly in another vehicle because accidents are sometimes staged to create confusion, allowing more serious events to occur. While I am not accusing anyone without proof, I am aware that I am under threat,” Morara said.
He further stated, “I have too many adversaries to begin speculating who might be responsible. These could include government officials we’ve exposed, opposition figures who feel we’re encroaching on their space, emerging tribal leaders worried that our message could undermine their influence, presidential candidates who think I might challenge them, contractors who vanished after being paid, and those sympathetic to corrupt individuals. The list goes on.”
Looking ahead, Morara mentioned that his security measures will be intensified, and he intends to avoid late-night engagements.
He expressed gratitude for surviving the accident, saying, “I will review my security arrangements and avoid meetings that extend into the night. I am thankful to be alive and believe there is a purpose behind it, though I understand that life is temporary, and death is inevitable.”
On Sunday, Morara shared footage on his social media accounts showing his Landcruiser Prado, which had sustained damage on the right side from a side collision. He claimed that the accident was caused by a drunk driver.
“I was involved in a side collision caused by a drunk driver in Kivwe, Embu County,” Morara stated.
He also mentioned that the driver responsible for the accident disappeared amid the ensuing chaos.
