Thomas Schaefer, Chairman of the Sub-Saharan Africa Initiative (SAFRI), acknowledged Africa’s rapid growth, driven by entrepreneurial energy and integration through initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He emphasized economic diversification and investment in energy, agribusiness, and manufacturing as critical to unlocking the continent’s potential.
German Federal Minister for Economy Affairs and Climate Action Vice Chairman Dr. Robert Herbek underscored the growing trade relationship, with over 930 German companies investing in Africa and employing 230,000 people.
Herbek noted challenges such as climate change, geopolitical tensions, and protectionism but highlighted the summit as a platform for fostering open markets, addressing demographic shifts, and creating skills hubs in Africa.
