The National Assembly Committee on Appointments has approved three Cabinet nominees to join President William Ruto’s Cabinet Secretarial team.
William Kabogo has been nominated to lead the ICT Ministry, Mutahi Kagwe for the Agriculture Ministry, and former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui for the Investment and Trade Ministry.
This approval sets the stage for a parliamentary debate before the nominees are officially approved and their names are forwarded to President Ruto for appointment. Currently, the ICT Ministry is being overseen by Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi in an acting capacity, the Agriculture Ministry by Environment CS Aden Duale, and the Trade Ministry by Salim Mvurya, who also leads the Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Ministry in an acting role.
President Ruto announced new nominations and Cabinet reshuffles on December 19, 2024, which included changes in ministerial roles, state corporations, and appointments to Kenya’s foreign missions.
In its report, the 20-member committee highlighted that the nominees demonstrated a solid understanding of their respective areas, along with the necessary skills, academic credentials, and professional experience to be considered for appointment.
