In a show of community support, Uriri Constituency’s MP, Mark Nyamita, has been praised for his efforts to sustain a school feeding program benefiting over 5,000 Kenya Primary School Examination Assessment (KPSEA) candidates during this year’s exam period. The program, in its seventh year, is designed to ease the burden on parents and ensure students are well-nourished and focused on their exams.
At the start of KPSEA exams, students, teachers, and parents across Uriri Constituency expressed gratitude as food supplies arrived at schools, courtesy of the MP’s initiative. Rose Otieno, Head of Uriri Comprehensive School, emphasized the program’s impact: “For seven years, the MP’s support during exams has been invaluable. The feeding program ensures all primary schools receive lunch, alleviating a significant concern for parents who previously had to provide meals.”
The initiative, Otieno noted, has helped solve logistical challenges for parents, who sometimes struggle to provide timely meals for their children. In addition to the feeding program, she highlighted the MP’s contributions to school infrastructure, particularly in West Kanyamkago, where new classrooms have improved the learning environment.
Beatrice Atieno, a parent from Rapogi Mixed School, echoed the appreciation, noting that the feeding program allows students uninterrupted time to focus on their exams. She added, “This initiative lifts the burden on parents and ensures students have the energy and time to concentrate on their studies.”
Rapogi Mixed School’s Head, Oguta Tobias, further expressed his gratitude for Nyamita’s ongoing support. “Since the KPSEA exams began, he has provided food for candidates and distributed motivational success cards, boosting morale and contributing to better performance.”
The community’s warm reception of the program underscores the positive impact of the MP’s initiatives on educational support and infrastructure improvements, contributing to a more supportive learning environment for students in Uriri Constituency.
