President William Ruto has commended the Kenyan police officers deployed in Haiti for their significant impact on improving security, despite working with limited resources.
During his visit to Port-au-Prince on Saturday, September 21, before attending the United Nations General Assembly, the President acknowledged the officers’ achievements and assured them that additional resources would soon be provided to support their efforts.
“You have achieved remarkable success with minimal equipment. There is no doubt that your performance will improve with more resources,” Ruto stated.
The first group of Kenyan police officers arrived in Haiti in June to begin a long-anticipated peacekeeping mission in a country devastated by gang violence. The mission, led by Kenya, seeks to restore stability in the Caribbean nation, which has been grappling with ongoing political and security crises.
President Ruto also highlighted that this mission enhances Kenya’s global standing by fulfilling its humanitarian commitments.
