Elon Musk’s satellite broadband company, Starlink, announced on Tuesday that it is now complying with Brazil’s Supreme Court order to block access to the social media platform X in the country. This statement comes just a day after the company had informed Brazil’s regulatory authorities that it would not follow the order.
The situation escalated into a new point of contention between Musk and Brazil after Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered the freezing of Starlink’s accounts, potentially to enforce fines owed by X, also owned by Musk.
“Despite the unlawful freezing of our assets, we are adhering to the court’s order to block access to X in Brazil,” Starlink, which serves over 200,000 customers in Brazil, stated in a post on X.
