The Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich Foundation, in partnership with Peace Drive Initiative, Aengwo Foundation, Generous Hearts Foundation, COAD, Tenwek Hospital, and the Elgeyo Marakwet County Department of Children and Social Services, extended a compassionate outreach to Kapchesewes and Nerkwo Children’s Homes. During the visit, the team provided essentials, including food, sanitary items, and mobility aids, meeting the immediate needs of the children and affirming the foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.
Sharon Toroitich of the Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich Foundation highlighted the foundation’s mission to aid and uplift vulnerable groups, stating, “Beyond material aid, we are here to show these children they are valued, cherished, and never forgotten.” Alongside donations, the team also planted trees at both homes, reinforcing the foundation’s commitment to environmental conservation and a sustainable future.
Representatives from Peace Drive Initiative emphasized that the tree planting initiative aims to enhance the environment of the children’s homes while fostering environmental awareness and responsibility among the young residents. Enock Kiplagat of the Toroitich Foundation noted that this initiative goes beyond immediate aid, as the team assessed additional needs at the children’s homes with plans for follow-up visits to address any pressing concerns.
Purity Koima, Elgeyo Marakwet’s County Executive for Sports, Gender, and Youth Affairs, underscored the importance of such initiatives in promoting peace and stability in regions affected by conflict. She observed, “Elgeyo Marakwet and neighboring counties like Baringo, West Pokot, and Samburu have faced conflicts, but initiatives like these foster peace and intellectual disarmament.”
The Peace Drive Initiative reaffirmed its commitment to advancing peace and resilience across conflict-prone counties, including Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot, Laikipia, Samburu, and Turkana, with this outreach serving as part of its broader mission to foster regional harmony.
Reflecting on the foundation’s values, Sharon Toroitich concluded, “To God be the glory for the opportunity to bring hope and love to those in need. We will continue our efforts to ensure these children are supported in every possible way.”
